Tim Tebow had a double, a single and RBI, and Merandy Gonzalez pitched 7 strong innings as St. Lucie defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads 5-0 in a matinee game in St. Lucie today.
St. Lucie scored 3 runs in the first inning and 2 in the 8th inning. Tebow had a hand in the runs scored as Tebow hit an RBI single driving in Jhoan Urena and in the eighth inning hit a double that moved Sergakis to third base. Michael Paez then hit a sacrifice fly to score Sergakis.
Tebow’s second at bat was a groundout to 1st, but with runners on 1st and 2nd, it advanced the runners to 2nd and 3rd putting them in scoring position.
Tebow finished the day 2-4 with a single, double and an RBI. Tebow was the only Met today with a multi-hit game. Tebow is batting .306 through 22 games. He now has 14 RBI’s and 4 doubles since joining St. Lucie mid-season.

After spending all season either playing LF or in the DH slot, he played his second game in center field, which he has delivered a solid performance.
