Mets Fall in Thriller 9-8 Despite 3 Hits By Tebow

A ninth inning rally by the Mets fell short as they lost to Bradenton tonight by the score of 9-8 at First Data Field.

The game featured a 3-5 performance by Tim Tebow and he also added a run and a RBI.

Tebow kicked off a five run second inning with a single to left, then advances to third when Michael Paez doubles to left. Tebow and Paez score on a John Mora double.

Tebow’s second at bat was a groundout to second.

Tebows third at bat was a single to left scoring Jhoan Urena and advancing Patrick Mazeika to 2nd.

Going into the bottom of the ninth, the Mets were down 9-7. The Mets rallied when Mazieka walked; then after Enmamuel Zabala substituted as a pinch runner, Tebow hit a single advancing Zabala to third. During Jeff McNeil’s at bat, a baseball caught in the equipment of the catcher by rule scored Zabala and advanced Tebow to second. McNeil was then hit by a pitch. Paez singled to load the bases, then J.C. Rodriquez almost ended the game with a sharp line drive to second baseman Mitchell Tolman. Tolman made a diving catch and doubled Paez off of first to win the game 9-8.

Tebow is now batting .315 with 12 runs scored and 16 RBI’s since his promotion to St. Lucie.

Game 3 with Bradenton is tomorrow night at First Data Field. First pitch is at 6:30 Eastern.
